Teach Me How to Present

NOTE: Throughout the blog, you will see hot pink and blue text. They are clickable links.

Last November 23, my fellow Google Student Ambassador Pat Chengliong and I gave a talk on Google products students can use when making presentations. We focused on two core products: Google Docs: Presentation and Youtube. We also took the opportunity to talk about the Free and Open Web Campaign.

Google Docs: Presentation
We love this because:
1.You can work on the same file simultaneously with you group mates.
Gone are the days when you have to finish your part of the PowerPoint then send it to a group mate to do his part then send it again to another group mate until your presentation is done!

2.You can share the file with different kinds of access to different people.
You would allow Miley to edit the presentation, while you would only allow Selena to view it (meaning she can't make changes to it).
When you're done with your presentation, you can let your viewers view it too by changing the settings to "anyone with the link" by:
 clicking SHARE
then under "Who Has Access", click the "change" button.
then click "anyone with the link" or other preferences you may have such as "Public" or "Private".

3.You can present the file directly from your browser!
When presenting, just click the PRESENT button found on the upper right hand and voila! It will open in up in a new full screen window.

Some of the people in the audience with their Google swag!
YouTube
We love this because:
1. They have a part of their website dedicated entirely to EDUCATION!
It's a collection of educational videos from professors from Yale, Harvard, Stanford, and more to other pundits who just want to help you understand a lesson you didn't understand in class.
Go visit www.youtube.com/education and explore! There's so much knowledge waiting to be learned.

2. The VIDEOS
Whether it's to make your audience laugh, feel sentimental, feel loved, or whatever you want, there are millions of videos you can view!

Did you know that 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute?
Click here for more fun facts/ statistics!

3. You can use videos you find to enhance your presentations.
You can directly link them to the Google Docs: Presentation that you are making.

#freeandopen
The mantra for the Free and Open Web Campaign is, "A free and open WORLD depends on a free and open WEB, and a free and open web depends on ME." It somehow speaks for itself but if you would like to learn more about the campaign check out the website: www.freeandopenweb.com!

Although we absolutely love these products, remember to save a soft copy of your presentation in your USB as a back-up, just in case you won't have internet access or the internet connection lets you down where you're presenting. (But we hope for the best!)

You can download the file from your Google Drive (where your presentation gets saved) by following these steps:
1. go to the home page of your drive
2. check the box beside the file you want to download
3.click more then a drop down menu would appear
4. then click download.

Pat and I enjoyed giving our first talk as Google Student Ambassadors and we can't wait for the next one! If you're from De La Salle University, keep your eyes opened for February for an event where you can learn more about Google! :)

There's so much more amazing things about Google Docs: Presentation that aren't in detail in this post. Maybe I'll take the time to blog about it next time or maybe I'll just link you guys to a comprehensive site or file you can use as reference. So come back soon to catch that and more amazing things coming these next few months that I will be blogging about!

Thanks to the BLAZE2014 batch government for letting us partake in this event called "Teach Me How to Present" with Sir Niño Gonzales as the main speaker. He gave us great tips on how to conduct ourselves when presenting from clothing to poise and the correct font styles to use in your presentation slides so it's appealing to the eyes.
