Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. They're definitely living up to their mission and are making our lives in the Philippines so much easier!
Locally, there have been MapUp's wherein local residents team up with some Googlers to map their location to make Google Maps more complete. Ateneo, La Salle, and University de Zamboanga have gone Google! The Department of Education has also gone Google! There's YouTube Philippines that launched in 2011. During the typhoons such as Ondoy and Pablo, there was a Google doc being used wherein anyone can input a crisis report so that people can be saved. Etc. etc.
I can't wait for what comes next now that Google Philippines has been launched!! :)
Now, here's a look at the event!!
Candy, pika-pika, chips galore! I totally want that candy dispenser!
Before the event, I spotted some Googlers enjoying their smartphones! (So sorry I didn't get to adjust my camera settings to capture the moment)
Google Student Ambassador's Kriz Toff and JM Basa with the Chromebook!
One of the desserts!
Speeches and the Q&A portion:
From left to right:
Undersecretary Manuel L. Quezon III,
Google Philippines Country Head Narciso Reyes,
and Google Southeast Asia Managing Director Julian Persaud.
Breaking the vase to signify the launch of the Manila office! It's a common game played in Filipino children's parties wherein there's usually candies, chocolates, and other treats inside!
Signing the freedom wall!
with Googlers from Singapore!
Sumptuous food! The beef was phenomenal!!
Singaporeans and Filipinos!
YAY GSA's!! :)
